Present company

It has been a busy old week, and I feel a little washed out. I had my first craft fair since the farmers markets last summer and I was a bit nervous. It was a small affair at a little local school, and just two hours, I was next to a good friend and knew that Nifty would be there. All lovely, so why the nerves? Maybe because I felt it was a bit of a dry run for the Makey do, maybe because my Folksy shop has been dead for months.....maybe just one of those moments of self doubt that hit from time-to-time. Whatever the reason I found it a bit hard. I did sell some brooches, clips and a bag. I gave a free button ring with each purchase which made my stall very popular with children with a couple of pounds to spend. I think this will be my focus for the next fair, lots of pink, lots of lower value items. Somehow though, I'm not feeling the love from the paying public.

I am, however feeling the bloggy love and received this dear little pink parcel the other day. It contained this beautiful tin, which held this gorgeous ceramic button. It is very special and may be something that I use in something made just for me. I think that might be what I need.
So a little sigh and some big thanks to Poppy cottage, you are very kind.

don't be too downhearted - craft fairs are notoriously hard work and some are better than others - its just a case of try and see! I used to do craft fairs with handspun handknits - you should have heard some of the comments - from 'how much!' over something that has taken hours to make - to 'i could get that cheaper at M&S'! It helps to be a bit thick skinned and that only comes with time - we all know you make lovely things!

Awww, you do sound a bit down. Have a (((hug))). I imagine people are finding it hard to spend on anything but essentials at the moment - which makes it difficult for crafters who want to sell. Please know though that your 'stuff' is gorgeous, and what's more, you are a lovely crafter. x

I think lots of us aren't being loved too much in the pocket at the moment but keep going!

The makey do will be brilliant and I am gutted that I can't join you, this was in no way a dry run!

Keep smiling (and selling) xxx

Craft fairs are always tricky. They make me feel very uneasy as you can never tell how they are going to go. Lovely button tin though!

oh Jenny, I so know how you feel. You have to stay positive,it will come good in the end, at least that's what I tell myself. If we didn't believe it we wouldn't keep going would we.

Oo by the way thanks for the post about my bits for your goodie bags on the makey do site - I seem unable to leave a comment there for you to say 'Thank you!' ;0

ahhh... cheer up, hug from me. You have found a little niche market so I'm sure with preparation in that direction things will pick up. x

You do sound a bit down but please don't worry, your Makey Do will be brilliant. Your makes are lovely and I am sure you will have lots of customers at the Makey Do. I always think little cheaper things seem to sell better at craft fairs too, especially a good idea in the current financial climate - better to sell something little than nothing at all!

Craft fairs can be absolutely awful and then you'll do one that will make you feel great.
Don't be down. The little brooch in the previous post is gorgeous.

Lovely button tin. I think everyone is feeling unloved at the mo, folks just don't have any spare cash my online shops are full of tumbleweed. I think your makey do will be fantastic.
